I managed to get in a couple of tournaments at the Houston (TX) Chess Club while vacationing with family over the holidays. The Houston Chess Club is very active and has a lot of very good players. Weekly one-days, larger tournaments from time-to-time, etc. Additionally, they are moving into a new facility that would host 40-60 player tournaments comfortably. I managed to play to a 3-3 record against the Houstonians, with all the losses above 1700, so it is not too bad. 3.0/6 against that competition was good for my rating too. Here is the game against the player whose rating was closest to my own, Weiyi Wang (1531). He attacked well, and I felt like I was getting pushed around for awhile. He pawnstormed my castle, either not seeing or not caring that he was dropping a knight in the process. The moment of truth is my 23. ...d5, when I block his attack just long enough to play my own attack. He did not see the danger and stayed in 100% attack mode. His 24th move needed to be a queen move covering f2. I finished the game with a queen-rook corner mate. Enjoy.
